Overview

Ritualune is a private daily tracking app for drink intake, optional locally imported Apple Health step counts, routines, reminders, weekly planning, and personal check-ins.

Your entries are stored in Ritualune's local app database by default. If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, your data can also sync through your personal iCloud account using Apple's private CloudKit database.

Wellness and Medical Disclaimer

Ritualune is a personal wellness and tracking tool. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or emergency support. If you have health concerns, consult a qualified professional.

Information the App Stores

Depending on how you use the app, Ritualune may store information you enter or configure, including:

  • drink and intake logs, such as water, coffee, alcohol, protein, and any custom quick-log items you create
  • daily check-ins such as mood, energy, sleep quality, and whether you moved your body
  • habit and routine completion data, including morning, afternoon, evening, and weekend routine progress
  • priorities, notes, and other free-form text you type into the app
  • weekly plan data, routines, goals, limits, custom measurement units, day-specific targets, weekly focus text, and custom dashboard settings
  • notification preferences and reminder times
  • optional Apple Health step counts if you choose to locally import Health steps
  • a small local widget snapshot, if you add Ritualune widgets, used to show selected progress on the Home Screen or Lock Screen

How Your Information Is Used

Your information is used only to provide the app's features, including:

  • showing your Today, Routines, Insights, History, and Settings screens
  • saving your daily logs, routines, plans, and long-term history
  • tracking routine completion and weekly targets
  • showing on-device insights based on the data already stored in the app
  • scheduling reminder notifications on your device
  • generating a CSV export on-device when you choose to export your data
  • showing selected progress in Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets when you add Ritualune widgets

Apple Health Step Import (Optional)

If you choose to locally import Health steps, Ritualune requests read-only access to your Apple Health step count. Ritualune does not request permission to write data to Apple Health.

  • Health step import is optional and off by default
  • when you connect Apple Health, Ritualune imports available step-count history and refreshes recent locally stored step counts when the app opens or you import again
  • imported step counts are stored locally on that device in a Ritualune file
  • imported step counts are not stored in Ritualune's CloudKit-backed app data and are not synced by Ritualune through iCloud
  • a small local widget snapshot may include step progress if you add Ritualune widgets
  • the developer does not receive or have server access to your Apple Health step data
  • Health step data is used only to show your step progress, step history, and optional step goal suggestions inside the app
  • Health step data is not used for advertising, marketing, analytics, data mining, third-party SDKs, or external AI processing
If you use Ritualune on more than one device, each device can import its own Apple Health step count locally after you grant permission on that device.

Local Data Storage

Ritualune stores app data locally using Apple technologies, including SwiftData.

For local on-device storage, the app configures its store files with iOS file protection class .completeUntilFirstUserAuthentication. That means the local database is protected by iOS and remains inaccessible until the device has been unlocked after a restart.

The developer does not operate a separate backend service to store your personal logs, notes, routines, weekly plans, or check-ins.

Apple device or iCloud backups may include local app data depending on your device settings. Locally imported Apple Health step records are stored separately and excluded from backup by Ritualune.

Widgets and Lock Screen Display

If you add Ritualune widgets, the app stores a small local widget snapshot in an App Group shared between the app and its widget extension. This snapshot may include your greeting/name, selected tracked item values, routine or check-in status, and optional step progress so widgets can display current information.

Widget content may be visible on your Home Screen or Lock Screen to anyone who can view that device. Deleting app data or turning off and deleting Health steps clears or refreshes this local widget snapshot.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, Ritualune uses Apple CloudKit to store synced app data in your private iCloud database.

  • iCloud Sync is optional and off by default
  • when iCloud Sync is first enabled, the app attempts to migrate your existing local app data into your private iCloud store so your history can continue without interruption
  • after iCloud Sync is active, future changes can sync across your signed-in Apple devices
  • Apple CloudKit may use Apple push notification infrastructure to deliver sync updates between your signed-in devices; Ritualune registers for these silent CloudKit pushes when iCloud Sync is enabled
  • the developer does not have access to your private CloudKit database
  • your synced data is governed in part by Apple's iCloud terms and your Apple account settings
Turning iCloud Sync off stops further syncing, but it does not automatically erase data already stored in your iCloud account.

Data Export (Optional)

You can export your data as a CSV file from within the app.

  • CSV export is optional and initiated only when you choose to export
  • the export file is generated locally on your device
  • the exported file may include your logged entries, notes, routine completion data, weekly plans, goals, limits, custom measurement units, day-specific targets, custom quick-log configuration, and optional locally imported step counts if step data exists and you choose to include Health steps in the export
  • the file only leaves the app if you choose where to save it or which app or service to share it with using Apple's system share and file export controls
  • the developer does not receive a copy of your exported CSV file through the export process
Once you save or share an exported file outside Ritualune, that copy is handled by the destination you choose, such as the Files app, iCloud Drive, AirDrop, Mail, or another third-party app or service.

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Ritualune requests permission to schedule notifications using Apple's local notification system.

  • the app schedules local notifications on your device
  • the app does not send remote push notifications from a developer-operated server
  • optional iCloud Sync may use Apple push notification infrastructure for background sync updates, but those pushes are provided by Apple CloudKit rather than a developer-operated notification server; Ritualune registers for them when iCloud Sync is enabled
  • reminder settings such as enabled states and times are stored locally

App Store and Apple Services

Use of Ritualune is subject to Apple's Standard End User License Agreement unless otherwise stated.

App Update Checks

Ritualune may contact Apple's public App Store services to check whether a newer version of the app is available.

  • the check is used only to show an in-app update prompt when an update is available
  • the request is sent to Apple, not to a developer-operated server
  • the developer does not receive your personal app data through this version check

Analytics, Tracking, AI, and Third Parties

Based on the current version of Ritualune:

  • the app does not include third-party analytics SDKs
  • the app does not include third-party advertising SDKs
  • the app does not sell your personal information
  • the app does not send your routines, notes, mood, energy, sleep, intake, or Apple Health step data to external developer-operated servers
  • the app does not use external AI services to process the personal data you enter

Apple services may still be used where needed for app update checks, local notification delivery, optional Apple Health permission, optional iCloud sync, and user-initiated file export destinations selected through Apple system interfaces.

Data Sharing

The developer does not share the personal data you enter in Ritualune with third parties, except as necessary for Apple-provided services that support app functionality, local notifications, and optional iCloud sync.

If you choose to export a CSV file, you are also choosing whether to save or share a copy of your data outside the app using the destination you select.

Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete local app data by using in-app delete or reset controls, or by deleting the app from your device.

If iCloud Sync is enabled, deleting synced data in the app will sync that deletion to other signed-in devices using the same private iCloud store.

If you export a CSV file, that exported file becomes a separate copy outside the app and is not automatically deleted when you delete app data or remove the app. You are responsible for deleting any exported copies you choose to save or share.

  • Delete all data in the app removes data currently available in this device's active app store and clears the local widget snapshot
  • deleting the app removes local on-device data from that device
  • if iCloud Sync was enabled, deleting synced data in the app will also remove it from other signed-in devices using the same private iCloud store
  • if you created exported CSV files, you may also need to delete those files separately from the locations where you saved or shared them

Ritualune Website and Optional Support

This policy primarily describes data handling inside the Ritualune app. The public Ritualune website pages include a Buy Me a Coffee button script served by Cloudflare's cdnjs service and load the button's Cookie font from Google Fonts. Loading these resources may allow those providers to process limited technical information such as your IP address, browser details, requested resource, referring page, and timestamp under their own privacy practices.

Selecting the button opens Buy Me a Coffee, where any optional contribution is handled under Buy Me a Coffee's terms and privacy policy. The website does not process the payment, optional support does not change app access, and the button does not send your Ritualune app data to Buy Me a Coffee or Google.

Children's Privacy

Ritualune is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app in a way that raises concern, contact smithj@smithjusa.com.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. When changes are made, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised.
